RE: Lazy Days RV service

I am a retired insurance agent. Some insurance companies do not want customers in work areas because of liability insurance claims. If a customer was walking around a work area and was injured by an employee they would probably file a claim. If they allow you to walk around the service area, and the policy does not allow it, and you are injured the insurance company may disallow the claim. Don

RE: Towing a BIG HORN 3670RL

I am so tired of so many people on the "you need a 1 ton" bandwagon. Check the specifications. My F250 can carry more cargo than a 1 ton, this is according to Ford. My frame, engine, transmission, axle, springs, wheels and tires are the same. Now tell me why a 1 ton is better than my 3/4 ton. I can just change the emblem on the side if it will make you happy. Check your specifications for your truck and see if the trailer fits the specs. Ron The springs are not the same. There is a extra leaf for the one ton that the 3/4 does not have. This is what my dealer told me. Don

RE: Lazy Days RV service

I had some repairs done to our previous trailer at LD. The work was done as requested and on time. Their rates are a little higher but acceptable. Don

RE: Picked up fiver and made 1st mistake

When I first got my slider it was tough to get every thing operating as it should. After using quite a bit of silicone spray on the moving parts the problems went away. Don

RE: Thanksgiving - Cherry Hill Park outside of D.C.

You really need at least a week to see the must see sights. Plan on going back and spending more time. Don

RE: Lazy Days files Bankruptcy

If you read the whole story this is what is called a prepackaged chapter 11. They plan to emerge from the bankruptcy in a few months. This story was out two months ago. Hopefully the economy will improve and allow them to survive. Don

RE: AC Unit leaking inside

I had the same type of problem a few years ago and the problem was the holes in the drain pan were clogged. Clean the holes and the problem was gone. Easy fix. Don

RE: GelCoat Fading

This topic has been discussed sever times in the last couple of months. Personally I used polyglow boat polish and am totally satisfied. Might want ti check out their web site. My trailer is in good condition. I have to have the end caps waxed every three months in the South Florida weather to keep them looking good. The owner of the shop where I have worked done suggested using Polyglow. He uses it on his boat. Plan to give it a try in January. Don

RE: Dropped it!

My insurance company, Progressive, will not raise your rates if you have been with them for 5 years without a claim. Do not ask how I know. Don

RE: hows this sound for discount on Jayco

Sounds like a good deal to me. If you like the floor plan go for it. Remember the dealer has to make money to stay in business. Don

RE: What's the difference in a Heat Pump and an A/C?

We have the heat pump in our RV. Works great down to around 42 degrees and saves a lot of expensive propane. We will also use a couple of small electric space heaters that help a lot. When the temps get below 40 degrees we have to kick in the propane heater instead of the heat pump part of the a/c. Don

RE: Lippert Frame warranty void b/c bike rack added.....

My Hitchhiker has a Lipert frame and comes with holes to add a 2" receiver that can be purchased from HH. There is a weight limit label attached to the receiver. Don

RE: Lippert Slide Out Systems

When our trailer was new we opened all the slides and marked on the reservoir the fluid level. We then closed all the slides and did the same thing. This was done with the help of the dealer at the PDI. Don

RE: Which Auto Satellite Dish Should I Install

If you're looking for an auto-finding dish for DirecTV HD programming, the best and least expensive is the Winegard Trav'ler 3005. Around $1500 on the web and easy to install. We've had ours for over a year and had it to Alaska. Works great. One button operation and less than 5 minutes and you're watching. JohnI'll second this. After almost a year of flawless operation on the Winegard, there's no way I would pay the extra $$ for the Motosat and have the same performance. I'll third this. Had ours for one year with no problems. We purchased ours from CW on sale and had them install it. Don

RE: Skyline Drive/Blue Ridge PKWY with a Fifth Wheel

We just drove part of the Blue Ridge Pkway last week without the trailer. We drove through 5 tunnels and a few were not marked. I would not pull a large trailer on the Pkway. More enjoyable to stay at a cg close by and take your time and pull off at places to enjoy the sights. Don

RE: Lippert Slide Out Systems

My Lipert system came from the factory with the pink/red fluid already in it. Is that the Lipert manual or Montana manual? Don

RE: Black tank ruptured on the 5th parked next to me

I will close the drain valve when using the tank flush so that I can build up enough water to get the tank clean. I never walk away from the drain valves so I will not forget and let the tank over fill. That seems to be when people get into trouble. I do not let the tank flush run for more then five minutes with the valve closed. Worked for me the past six years. Don

Landing Jack Problem Dual Motors

When we arrived at our current CG and did our regular set up with no problem. Went to a store for some supplies and came back to the trailer and found the road side landing gear retracted. Tried to extend the leg again and the drop leg would not move up or down. Had a local serviceman come by and he tried the manual crank and felt the electric motor when engaged and he came to the conclusion that a bolt or rod in the drop leg was broken. Will have to call NuWA on Monday to see about parts. Does this make sense to the more mechanical minded forum members? We have the dual motor setup and the maker is Venture. Don

RE: 5th wheeler on BlueRidge Parkway

We travled the parkway today from Ashville to Little Switzerland, Nc. Went through around six tunnels and the only one that was marked showed 13'6''. The roads are narrow and the speed limit was from 25 mph to 45 mph. A lot of ups and downs and sharp turns. I would prefer not to go any long distance on the park way. We did this without our fifth wheel. Don
